Arsenal in 1983/86

Arsenal's 1983-84 season saw manager Terry Neill sacked on 16 December 1983 after a run of five losses in six games left the club 16th in the table, with assistant Don Howe taking over and becoming permanent manager in April 1984. Charlie Nicholas arrived from Celtic for £650,000 as a club-record signing but scored only twice by December, while Paul Mariner joined for £150,000 in February and scored seven times in the final fifteen games. Tony Woodcock finished as top scorer with 21 goals as Arsenal completed the campaign in sixth place.
