Real Madrid in 1999/01

Real Madrid's 1999–2000 season saw John Toshack sacked on 17 November 1999 following poor league form that left the club in eighth position, despite a 3–2 victory against Rayo Vallecano. Vicente del Bosque took over and began a trophy-winning era at the club. The squad featured new arrivals Steve McManaman from Liverpool and Nicolas Anelka from Arsenal, alongside Míchel Salgado and Iván Helguera. This remains the last season in which Real Madrid finished outside the top four in La Liga.
